One of the best aspects of Turkish cuisine is the focus on seasonal eating and fresh produce. From the outside, Turkish food may be known for köfte, döner and kebab, but there is much more to dining and food culture here. The traditional and regional home cooking, as well as ethnic influences, means you can look forward to more variety and new flavour combinations when you are dining outside, or buying items for your homemade meals. Expat home cooks are adapting their recipes by incorporating substitutes and hacks for commonly found items in their home country, and local residents are introducing new techniques and ingredients to traditional Turkish plates. It’s an exciting time for food and drink in Istanbul and we’re eager to discover and share along with you.
